Not Following Anyone

Heroes: Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, Al Franken, Richard Clarke, Bill McDannell, anyone who's lost a loved one in Iraq and keeps it together enough to fight against the war (Melida and Carlos Arredondo among others), Harry Reid, Dalai Lama, Lt. Watada, Susan Davis, Barbara Boxer, Elie Wiesel.

Interests: they are legion, but right now I'm pretty focused on the peace movement. Apart from that, I seldom watch television and read voraciously (sci-fi is a favorite and have been reading current affairs nonfiction quite a bit for the past several years).  I'm a news junkie and range far afield in search of untainted news -- the foreign media (I even have a link to Al-Jazeera), the Web, alternative news sources in general. 2008: ASTRONOMY!  Also pretty stoked that this is an election year. I LOVE elections and they excite me. Nothing better than a good, hard-fought election, especially at this point in our country's history (hint: HC has what we need to reverse course).

Belief system:  wow. I'm always not sure. I do believe in a Universe that is spiritually based. I do believe that we can connect with that spiritual energy and put it to work. Do I espouse a religion?  (<sour face>) Well, I have to get past all the hierarchical garbage first -- you know, all those do's and don't's that rose up around a good message and significantly tainted it.  What can I accept?  I like the Tao.  The American Society of Friends (surprisingly Eastern in its outlook) is pretty pure. I believe we're part of something larger than this small planet and that we can connect with it -- maybe it doesn't really matter how, so long as whatever route we choose doesn't abet evil.  And yes, I do believe in good and evil, or darkness and light, however you'd like to characterize it. I've seen evil (darkness) gain the ascendancy since Adolph Hitler was allowed to implement his monstrous belief system relatively unchecked. It has happened before in history further away in time, but I never expected (or at least hoped not) that the world could see it again. What George Bush has done to the Iraqi people is right up there with that. The world is losing its balance toward the side of evil. Every time someone does a good thing, without thought to self-interest, we win a small battle. That's important! Large numbers of small wins draw energy AND emit energy.

Movies: Into the Valley of Elah, SICKO!, Farenheit 911, Bennie & Joon,  Armegeddon, Independence Day, Dances with Wolves, Little Big Man, The Razor's Edge.

Peace, love, light and joy to all of you -- mostly love.
            -Jacqueline
To Aum and Sand: thank you for your support. I'm going to head off to bed, not sure what else to do, sleep, go to work tomorrow. Message to anyone new online: pray for the wellbeing of Cecily Quinn Hudson, pass the message to all your contacts. Y'all will be sick of me eventually, but I'll be back.....
            -Jacqueline
California, San Diego. Don't know how to PM here, haven't spent that much time over the last year. I'll be here every night for awhile. I trust the network here, unlike any other. Thanks, Sand. I'm okay, I really am, just have to be strong.
            -Jacqueline
Okay, I'm officially a mess. I think it's okay. Tears are falling, but they're not devastating me, I will be okay. Sand, thank you so much. Will you pass the message on?
            -Jacqueline
Please send a prayer vigil around the world for my daughter Cecily Quinn Hudson for her wellbeing and health. I am not conventionally religious, all persuasions acceptable - smile - but prayer is good. Thank you, Sand. Please send this message to eveyone. I don't know how else to help her.
            -Jacqueline
And it is not about me, it's about her. If we lose her, the world has lost one of the most beautiful souls to grace its being. I'm trying very hard not to cry and I will not, if I do I don't know when it would ever end. Pray for Cecily Quinn Hudson. Oh, thank you so much, Aum Zar, my heart is eternally grateful.
            -Jacqueline
All 10 of you on-line: I am not kidding. My daughter needs your prayers and I DO believe in the efficacy of prayer even if my beliefs are somewhat unorthodox. Please copy my message and send it to every single person you know. I enough people pray, she might be okay. If she's not, I will probably just die.
            -Jacqueline
I don't know where else to bring this. Please pray for my daughter, Cecily Quinn Hudson, who has had a truly crappy adult life, who is the light of my life and my hero, who is one of the best human beings I have ever known, and who is facing severe medical and emotional issues after having endured the year from hell. Please pray, in whatever way you know how, for her wellbeing and her health, and please pass this message to everyone you know around the world.
            -Jacqueline
Peace, love, light and joy. Have a wonderful night, world!
            -Jacqueline
Ah, back to my easy place. Was just on Facebook, frenetic as ever. This is just so peaceful. How is everyone tonight?
            -Jacqueline
My usual sign-off message, I'm off to bed: peace, love and light.....
            -Jacqueline
Listening to the news. Repubs are talking about how Obama is running up so much debt. What about the debt that the American Devil (I mean that) ran up? Oh, not a word. What about the f__ing misguided war that killed so many innocents? What about all the fiscal surplus Clinton left behind, all squandered because W had to show dad he had a bigger d_ck? Sorry, everyone, just get so angry. Not sure now Obama will save us, but I'm still giving benefit of the doubt.
            -Jacqueline
My god, I feel peaceful when I come here. After the crazy pace of Facebook, this just seems idyllic. I hope all is well with the 14 souls flying here.....
            -Jacqueline
Out of here now. Wishing all of you peace, love and light in your lives. Be well.
            -Jacqueline
Karen, it was so heartening to view your earlier post about Earth Hour being observed in the UK. I also observed it here, but looking out my windows, it doesn't appear anyone else did. It's over now, but I'm strangely disinclined to turn everything back on.......
            -Jacqueline
Earth Hour has ended. I hope it accomplished something.......
            -Jacqueline
We have GOT to think globally, and I don't mean necessarily economic globalization. But most of the problems we're all dealing with at a national level are in realitly GLOBAL problems. National interests get in the way of cooperative thinking and cooperative solutions. I choose to view myself as a citizen of the world and recognize that the world is small. We're all in this together and we have to COME together.
            -Jacqueline
Observing Earth Hour, 8:30-9:30 p.m. across the globe. A little carbon respite for Mother Earth. Everything closed down (lights, appliances) except my computer. SO disappointed. Look out my window, everyone's windows are alight, so I guess the word didn't get out so well.
            -Jacqueline
Dear Aiken, whether a new post or one across time: I think it's because enlightenment is so difficult to deal with and that "the rest" hide behind various belief systems that have been fed to them since they were children. We have to get beyond that and I think it probably only really happens one person at a time -- and often not even then. Just hang in, live those values, sometimes people change from exposure to that. I LOVE the things you say. I think you're spiritually awake.
            -Jacqueline
I think that once we unify the world with mutual respect for ALL belief systems -- which do not cause harm to others -- then we'll be ready to become citizens of the Universe and perhaps "globalize" that portion of our reality as well. Way beyond my time on earth, but one can only hope.
            -Jacqueline
God is surely not about following the Episcopal rules or the Catholic rules or the Baptist rules or the Muslim rules or the Buddhist, Hindu, whatever rules. Don't you think "god" is much bigger than that? And don't you think that we are part of what "god" is and that we carry "god" within ourselves and ARE "god" ourselves by virtue of that conection?
            -Jacqueline
"so many different gods...why would the one you believe in be real and the others not?" In some sense they're all valid. If there is A god, then it's what it is, but how we perceive that god is a matter of perception. I think on this earth we have not really touched in our minds what "god" or godhead, if you will, really is.....
            -Jacqueline
I like that we're back to locations, but really miss the blinkies!
            -Jacqueline
I don't know if this was an old post or new about BG's geekdom, but I count myself a geek and believe that geeks rock! My daughter told me recently: "Mom, you're such a geek!" I merely said "thank you". : - )
            -Jacqueline
Hmmm, tried to speak to Sand and ended up at her profile. Try again. Good to see you here. I also see Karen and Gragg, Butterfly Magic (a little familiar), haven't been here in a LONG time. Political campaigns to work for, animal advocacy laws to push through, and just freaking busy! Hi, everyone!
            -Jacqueline
Found the GC group on Facebook, requested to join. I so hope to be accepted. Thinking many of those I came to know here are now posting there. We shall see....
            -Jacqueline
Dystopia, those are not bad things to come out of a human fabrication. A spiritual approach is better though because it has more reality. I know, I know, said I was wiped, had to leave, yet here I am. Still.
            -Jacqueline
Sending love, peace and light to you all. I have to leave, exhausted, my daughter had surgery today, she's doing well, but Mom is played out...spent the wait time on my laptop dealing with work, how many ways can a person be divided? I've at least disengaged from the political arena for a bit. Thank you GC, thank you Brad, for providing a haven.
            -Jacqueline
Spirituality is better.....
            -Jacqueline
Well, some things have not changed......Hi, Jimmy E. Still the same old iconoclast. That's OK. There's a place in the world. Still, not sure why you are always so angry. If you're not using it to constructively change things, then it's a complete waste AND saps all your other emotional energies. You then become 1-dimensional, don't you think?
            -Jacqueline
I see Zar, I see Karen, I see Butterfly and Sand, also Zephyrus, also Gragg. Hi to all! Oops, sorry Gnarl, this might be construed as bonding, but all these people are intelligent and have interesting ideas.
            -Jacqueline
Hmmm, another MIA: no indication. Old post? New post? No way of knowing unless I'm missing something. Clues? Don't see any. New Gnalry post: Please tell me you're not suicidal!!! What's with all the Gnarly posts anyway. Is this just in order of posting or does it have to do with showcasing this poster or that one, one at a time? Well, much exploring to do. Just got your knarly response: I haven't been here in 6 months, so I'm not sure what you think I'm defending myself against. You ARE on-line!
            -Jacqueline
Sorry I seem so giddy, but a part of me feels like I just came home. Have spent SO much time embroiled in political undertakings, have posted so many posts and protested so many wrongs, and here seems simpler, more easy. I am tired, very tired, need a respite, will continue the good fight tomorrow. Oh, and Gnarly (old post? new post?), sometimes those of us here (or used to be) actually CARE about the weather or what the other person ate today. I think it's called bonding, I think it's called love.
            -Jacqueline
Jimmy East is still here? That guy used to just FROST me! But sometimes he makes sense.
            -Jacqueline
Dear Gnarly, and your post might be old, but I don't know: pure experience is a learning tool. If it is embraced for it's own self -- with no reflection -- how can you teach yourself anything?
            -Jacqueline
MUST explore all the changes. I miss the blinkies that pinpointed our location, maybe that's a good thing, but still they were sort of cool! Thoughts on the economic meltdown? Well I have a few: working America is once again screwed, people who produce no goods, no services, just move money around, are rewarded. B**s**t. That's all it is. I'm ready to become an ex-pat, I want to live in Europe. I know the econ climate there is also bad right now, but the social climate is SO better!
            -Jacqueline
OMG. GC is still here! I was SO worried it had gone away, the widget on my desktop disappeared. Well, I'm back, wondering who is still here, who is new. Have been very involved in American politics over the intervening months, working hard for Obama (first Edwards, then Hillary, but I think Barack has the seeds of greatness in him), also spending time in animal rights activism -- Gandhi said that a society can be judged by its treatment of animals, so what does that say about us? Not pets, animal animals!
            -Jacqueline
Not much traffic and work beckons tomorrow, so I'm going to sign off. Hope to be here much more in the coming days. Love, light, peace and harmony to you all.
            -Jacqueline
Uh-oh. Changes! My world is rocked! : - ) So what happened to the geographical blinkies??? I LOVED the blinkies!
            -Jacqueline
Haven't been here in two months and two days. Much has changed. For both animal rights issues and limited resource issues, I am now a vegetarian, which I did before many years ago and have been leaning toward for awhile; am doing volunteer work for the Animal Rescue and Protection League; and have come out of a probably year-long funk!! SO glad to be back here. Karen, if you're the same Karen, hello! Also to Butterfly and Sand. Zephyrus, read some of your messages and liked them.
            -Jacqueline
Love, blessings, light to all. I'm out of here. Good night. Sleep well.
            -Jacqueline
SPEAK! (Well, it works for my dog...)
            -Jacqueline
This is a pretty damn safe place, with good intent.
            -Jacqueline
Hmmm, 9 users online. We used to have in the gazillions. Well almost always in the hundreds.... Speak up! You must have SOMETHING to say.
            -Jacqueline
Anon across time: so WHAT that Clinton said that. He was a great president. You prefer Bush junior (shrub)? My good friend Robyn carries a sign in protest marches: Will someone PLEASE give W a BJ so he can be impeached? Some wisdom there, some statement about the political arena in this country.
